Add Subtle Texture and Warmth.
Carpet is valued for not only how it feels on your bare feet, but it also acts as an insulator, preventing warm and cool air infiltration, as well as absorbing sound. It can serve as a buffer for young children or pets, giving traction and cushioning falls. It can also be budget-friendly.
The down side with carpeting, is it does not have the longevity that the other flooring applications have. Depending on the pile and fiber type of carpet, it can last up to 10 years before it needs to be replaced. It also traps pollen, allergens, pet dander, and dirt, despite the best cleaning efforts.
Carpet is not recommended for wet areas, as it will hold moisture and encourage mold growth or water damage to the subfloor.
