Timeless and elegant.
Solid Wood is comprised of solid hard or soft wood planks, made of a continuous piece of wood that has tongue and groove connections. As any well-maintained old home will demonstrate, a solid hard wood floor can last up to 100 years.
Engineered Wood is comprised of veneer wood and plywood bonded together with adhesives to create a product that looks like traditional wood flooring, but designed to be stronger and more durable. It can also be installed over a variety of subflooring, and using different methods (glue-down, floating, or click-together joints). Another advantage is that it will expand and contract less during temperature and humidity fluctuations than its solid-wood counterpart.
All hardwood floors are known to last for many decades if maintained properly. Routine cleaning involves vacuuming or sweeping, and washing with mild detergents and water.
